Withdrawal Policy
Brighter Day requires a 60 day notice to reduce enrollment or withdraw entirely. Requests for increased enrollment may be implemented as soon as space is available.
Adding Days
Families may request to add additional days of care to their child's tuition. Requests will be looked over by the Director and/or the Assistant Director.
Family must request adding days via email and with as much notice as possible in order to accommodate your request. Requests for additional days are not guaranteed.
Guidelines for sick children
Brighter Day reserves the right to exclude ill children from childcare This exclusion applies when the child's attendance presents a risk for spreading an infection to other children and when the ill child requires more attention/care than what our regularly scheduled staff can provide. In addition, if a child is not in good spirits(participating in daily activities) or their normal self we will contact parents to come pick them up.
In compliance with the Rules for the Certification of child care and the state of Oregon, the childcare shall not admit or retain in care. A child who has one or the following symptoms,or combination of symptoms or illness: Fever over 100.3 F taken under the arm; Diarrhea,(more than one abnormally loose,runny,watery or bloody stool); Vomiting; Nausea; Severe cough; Unusual yellow color to skin or eyes. any eye lesions,eye discharge that is yellow or green in color(includes pink eye/conjunctivitis); Skin or rashes that are serve; weeping, or pus-filled, or are rapidly spreading with in care; Difficult breathing or abnormal wheezing; Complaints of severe pain. If your child shows signs of any of these symptoms, she/he will be isolated within the center away from other children, and we will call and ask you to come pick up the child at the center as soon as possible.
Your child must be symptom-free for 24 hours without the aid of pain or fever reducers prior to re-admittance to the childcare.
School Closures
Brighter Day is closed on all National holidays. We follow most of Portland Public school closure days.
Note; We did not not close for the full winter break or spring break.
Brighter day takes the last week in June off for our all staff vacation/inservice. see our calendar for all closure days.
*Unscheduled closure days may occur at any time if we consider attendance unsafe.
In certain circumstances (i,e. power outage,icy roads) If we decide to close for safety concerns, and your child is already at the center, then you will be contacted by phone for immediate pick up of your child.
In the case of the snow or other inclement weather, your location will open IF AND WHEN teachers can get to Brighter Day safely.
